1788 Massachusetts No Period

VG10 BN

NGC 6705735001

$300

Post Colonial Massachusetts Coppers were issued in 1787 and 1788. The obverse depicts an Indian holding bow and arrow, the reverse with a spread eagle. For the 1788 one cents, there are two major varieties collected, "With Period" and "No Period" after MASSACHUSETTS. This example the slightly more rare "No period" variety which is noted on the holder. The NO PERIOD variety is listed on the NGC holder. Rims and major design elements are good for the grade, the two 8's in the date are weak. The eagle feather detail above the arrows is good. Original. New 4/3

1803 Sm Date Lg Frac

VG10

NGC 6849368003

$175

This Small Date Large  Fraction of the 1803  is accurately graded with good remaining obverse hair detail and some remaining rim dentils. All reverse lettering is strong. This is the S-257, B-16 variety that can be 1st defined as a small date obverse by the blunt 1. The a 1 and 3 closer to the bust than the denticles, the T over hair. The reverse with large bar in the numerator's 1 and a short fraction bar that starts at the left of the 1st 0. The variety also with outside berry under the T  in S(T)ATES. Surfaces are a dark chocolate with minimal disruptions for the issue. The Small  Date Large Fraction variety is not noted on the holder. Nice early copper selection for either date or Type and offered at an attractive price. Original. New 2/15.

1819 Sm Date

AU58

PCGS 47348141

$625

Abundant remaining mint luster combined with strong strike just about says it all for this lovely 1819 Small Date Matron Head Large Cent. The Small Date variety is about 3-5x rarer than the Large date 9 over 8 variety. PCGS shows a current pop of 17 at the AU58 grade. Very few distractions and the tinges of red seen around a good amount of the rim add to the visual enjoyment. The reverse equally well struck but with less red highlights. My images don't pic up the luster and red toning , way nicer in-hand. Nice selection for either date or Type and offered at an attractive price, Gem. New 12/1 .

$145

This 1905 Indian Cent is oh so very nice for the assigned grade. Lots of remaining original mint red on both the obverse and reverse. A minor blemish at the U in UNITED the probable cause for the grade. Strike is full, the key 1st feather detail is all there. Gem. New 4/17

Bart Chapman Collection. Housed in an older NGC holder, this earlier Lincoln issue comes well struck and with purple - bluish toning that plays quite nicely against the base brown patina. Worthy candidate for any quality Lincoln set in the mid Uncirculated range. Choice.

This 193o issue Lincoln cent sports a RB designation but is easily 80% Red ,with limited blemishes. Much nicer than my image conveys. So PQ for the grade, hence the  sticker award. Gem.  green-sticker-1_orig

The wartime 1 year issue 1943 steel cents were issued to a copper shortage. This Denver example would certainly fit the bill for any high grade Lincoln or type set. Gem.

1943-S

MS67+

PCGS 39836689

$450

The popular San Francisco wartime 1943 steel cent was issued to the tune of over 191 million coins, yet even with that huge mintage at the MS67+ grade only 302 are now certified by PCGS with 131 in MS68 and 5 in MS68+This example is noted as a Minor Variety on the TPG holder and noted as a "Repunched Mint Mark", the S doubling easily seen under 10X. These pops fall off dramatically from even MS67 where over 2300 have been certified. PCGS suggested price is $625, this coin attractively priced. Great selection for either high end type or date set. Gem. New 1/15
