Description
The 1865-S Seated half dime with a small mintage of 120,000 is the much scarcer than the mintage. This example is marked as a Repunched Date on the holder, but not fully attributed as a V-4 variety per Clint Cummings attribution guide. The V-4 pairs Obverse 2 with Reverse B . The Obverse can be identified with pendant directly above the curve of the 6, the re-punching is seen on all 4 digits, 1 and 5 very strong.. Circular line also connects shield and skirt to right. The reverse with heavy die crack 10-4 and die line above crack and wreath. R3. Gunmetal grey patina. Original.
