Description

This 1833 with “Last 3 High in the date“. is variety JR-5, R1. Popular variety listed in the Red Book. The 2nd 3 rises well above the 1st 3, and is quite obvious when compared to 1833 dimes without this defining characteristic. The High 3 variety also found in the rarer JR-7 variety. An easy way to differentiate is to look at the reverse and the AM. On the JR-5, the A is above the M at the base, on the JR-7 the AM touch. This example with a good amount of underlying mint luster and pretty golden hues. Obverse curls and reverse eagle feathers with just a tad of friction seen on the high points. Gem.
