Description
This 1844 Seated half dollar is attributed as WB-9 which pairs Obverse 6 with Reverse G. Housed in a small ANACS holder, the label simply states “REPUNCHED DATE” and not the WB variety. The 844 repunch is very light, the reverse die cracks that are unique to Reverse G (the only use of this die) both dramatic and strong as is the diagnostic diagonal line found lower right in the shield. The die cracks are quite interesting including the 2 cracks running parallel from the top of H(A)LF to the eagle’s claw and (D)OL to branch stem. The crack running rampantly though STATES quite striking. R3. Choice.
