Description
New 7/22 The1908-S was the 1st cent struck at the San Francisco branch mint and has always been a popular issue. This example with pleasing light brown fields. The LIBERTY is weak but all letters are present. The top diamond on the ribbon shows. The date is clear and the rims are nicely formed. The S mintmark is bold, the shield’s vertical lines are strong, the horizontal lines weaker, which is typical. The mintage of 1,115,000 is the 3rd lowest in the series with only the 1877 and 1909-S with fewer struck. PCGS shows a population of 369 at the presented level. Attractively priced. Original.
