Description
New 8/2 The 1823 Bust Half dollars were issued to the tune of 1,694,200 employing eleven obverse and twelve reverse dies. This example is O-106 which utilized Obverse 5 in combination with Reverse F. The 3 is well formed and taller than the 182. The stars are large and bold, surfaces with minimal blemishes and lovely grey-brown toning with hints of underlying green and nice luster peaking through. The reverse also with lovely surfaces, shield and eagle feather detail strong. The I is centered under the T. Rims without any nicks and the denticles cut nicely Difficult to find this nice. R3.
