Description
This 1st year of issue Bust 1835 Quarter Dollar is from an original mintage of 1,952,000. Eight varieties have been identified, this is Browning #3 (B-3) with a very scarce rating of R4+. The B-3 variety pairs obverse with a High 3 in date ( also used on B-1 and B-2) with reverse identified by the eagle’s left wing, which is not close to the rim as with B-1 and B-2. LIBERTY is clear, the tops (B,Y) slightly weak. Surfaces are an original grey-brown with very little blemishes cited for the assigned grade. Miss Liberty’s Cap and curls with decent remaining features. The reverse eagle’s wing and claw wear remarkably consistent, features quite nice. The shield’s vertical and horizontal lines are strong. Both the obverse and reverse rims are clean. Attractively priced, with just a small 10% premium asked for the variety’s rarity. Original.
